Are you a proficient researcher with a flair for producing influential long-form reports? The Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI) is seeking an Assistant Researcher to join our team, offering expertise in developing comprehensive content and conducting analysis for projects such as our State of the Panth (SOTP) reports. In this role, you will play a vital part in contributing to Sikh research and development, acting as a link between academia and the community. As a valued content and development team member, you will report directly to the SOTP Lead. Familiarity with the Sikh faith is a prerequisite.

Responsibilities:

  • Long-Form Content: Draft, edit, and proof extensive reports and analyses for publication.
  • Briefs: Conduct extensive research on Sikh matters to offer insights grounded in the Gurmat perspective—Bani (Wisdom), Tavarikh (History), and Rahit (Lifestyle).
  • Survey Expertise: Design, conduct, and analyze surveys focused on all aspects of Sikh topics.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with team members, including researchers, analysts, writers, and designers.
  • Presentation Skills: Deliver clear and insightful presentations on complex subjects.

Requirements:

  • Degree in humanities, religious studies, history, or political science.
  • Two years of relevant working experience.
  • Strong interest in connecting academia with the Sikh community.
  • Proficiency in English (additional proficiency in Panjabi is advantageous).
  • Excellent writing skills, with a keen eye for detail in grammar, spelling, and communication.
  • Knowledge of editing principles, AP Style, and web publishing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with exceptional time and project management skills.
  • A commitment of 3+ years.
